Well, looks like I completely forgot about this place for a while. I've been keeping busy, though, and I'm still posting lots of stuff over at my deviantart page, so you can see junk there.

And here's something to make up for all of that time away (as if anyone reads this thing anyway). It's a poster done in Illustrator advertising my favorite ship in the entire Starfleet - the Defiant-class!

It might contradict Gene Roddenberry's whole Star Trek vision, but I still thought it was a good idea.

We're talking about brunettes. Not fighter jets.

This here is my final project for my Layout and Design class, taught by master teacher Gabe Bridwell. He knows everything there is to know about art, and in case he forgets something, he keeps at least five books about it in a bag next to his Mountain Dew. The assignment was to do a 2-page story that you feel 'only you can tell.' Naturally, I showed what would happen if Hellboy encountered the Ferengi. This project was about 11 weeks in the making, so there's only ONE panel that bugs me. New record!

We second years have the option to apply for a big ol' scholarship worth about $4k. Pretty cool, except you have to do a full-color illustration (any medium) in a span of about two weeks in order to qualify. This is on top of every other assignment we have, and also tax season. Also, the illustration has to feature one or some of a bunch of crazy vampire people created by a former student who died a little while back. RIP, Vampire Guy.

Thanks mostly to the seventh season of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, I managed to knock out the pencils and inks in about a day and a half. I'll post the finished color version when it's done.

EDIT: And yes, they are robbing a warehouse bloodbank.

Thanks to the assembly of a portfolio for a job interview today, I FINALLY found the time to scan in the inked pages from Andy Kubert's infamous Batman Vs. Predator project.

At the time, he said it was my best work to date. Coming from him, that means a lot.

This dandy little anti-beauty was done for Color Illustration, taught this year by world-famous oil panter Rowena Morrill. She really liked the pipes.

These guys are the Morlocks, a bunch of butt-ugly mutant outcasts who love H.G. Wells. Sometimes they get along with their fellow mutants, the X-Men, and sometimes they don't, and sometimes a bunch of other mutants hunt them down and kill them. They're an interesting bunch of people. I was planning to include more than just four of them in the picture, but I ended up falling too much in love with the background to cover it up with a bunch of ugly mutie freaks.

First post, eh? Better make it good.

This is the latest assignment for my Basic Drawing class. The task was to pencil, ink, and color an illustration featuring a well-known landmark that's been altered in some way, but not enough to make it unrecognizable. I picked the Great Wall of China, and I stuck some future junk on it and blew a hole in the wall. I also threw in some Mongolians from the future. They just won't stop breaking down the city wall!

The color rendering was mostly done with the Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet. After about three months of messing around with the damn thing, I think I'm finally getting the hang of it.
